Work With Angela · One to One
Grief, trauma, and the relationship you have with your mom.
That is the work Angela does with women, one at a time. The grief you can name and the grief you can’t, in weekly sessions online, a full day at the ranch, or side by side with the horses.
Angela Schellenberg is a grief and trauma coach and licensed therapist serving women in Los Angeles, Santa Monica, and Malibu. She offers grief and trauma coaching online, Attachment-Focused EMDR, day intensives, and equine-assisted healing at Shakti Ranch.

If this feels like home,
Let’s begin the work.
You can bring anything into this work:
The grief you can name, and the grief you can’t.
What your earliest relationships taught your body to carry.
The loss that doesn’t have a funeral.
Most people come when something is shifting and they want to understand what’s actually true for them. Grief lives in the body. The work meets it there.
How It Begins
Three steps, the first one small
1
Book a free 15-minute call
No intake forms, no pressure. Just a real conversation, so you can get a sense of Angela and she can get a sense of what you’re carrying.
2
Choose the shape of the work
Weekly sessions online, a full day at the ranch, or time with the horses. Angela will tell you honestly what she thinks fits, including when the answer is “not me.”
3
Begin, at your pace
Grief doesn’t run on a schedule, and neither does this. The work moves at the speed your nervous system can actually hold.
Investment · 1:1 Sessions · 60 Minutes · 100% Virtual

The Day Intensive · Shakti Ranch, Malibu
A full day, fully held

Day Intensive
Monday, 10am to 3pm · Shakti Ranch, Malibu
One woman, one day, the whole of Angela’s attention. Your day includes:
- A 15-minute intake call before your day
- Two hours with the herd, 10 to 12
- Lunch at Neptune’s Net on the coast, 12 to 1
- Two more hours with the herd, 1 to 3
- Time to unpack the work together, on the land

Attachment-Focused EMDR
For the grief that hasn’t moved
Working at the nervous-system level, in Laurel Parnell’s attachment-focused model. Gentler and more relational than standard EMDR, built for pain that lives in early relationship as much as in single events.

EMDR Session
Attachment-Focused EMDR · Licensed in CA, WA & AZ
We will not sit across from each other recounting trauma in detail. We work in conversation, resourced, and in small pieces, so your system can finish what it wasn’t able to before. Same rate and packages as weekly sessions, just this modality.
$350 · per session, same packages as above
The Attachment Grief Framework
Four ways in, one direction
Attachment-Focused EMDR. Working at the nervous-system level where grief resides, drawing on Laurel Parnell’s model.
Mother Hunger® Framework. Naming and tending the grief of maternal absence. Angela is a trained facilitator of the framework created by Kelly McDaniel.
Grief & Attachment Work. Exploring how your early relational history shapes the way you process every loss.
Equine-Assisted Healing. The relationship with the horse becomes a somatic entry point for what words can’t reach.
“She holds the kind of space I wished I’d had when my mom died. No matter where you are in your journey, Angela helps to pull you out of stuck thinking to forward feeling.”

Common questions about working with Angela
Do you take insurance?
No. This work is private pay, and that is a deliberate choice: nothing about your grief goes to an insurance company, no diagnosis is required for your record, and the pace of the work is set by you, not by a session cap. If your plan includes out-of-network benefits, reimbursement can be worth asking your insurer about. Bring the question to the free call if you want to talk it through.
Is it too soon after my loss? What if it has been years?
Neither. Some women come three weeks after the funeral. Some come thirty years later, when a new loss wakes up an old one. Grief does not expire, and there is no deadline you have missed. If you are unsure whether now is your time, that is a good thing to bring to the free call.
What is the difference between weekly sessions and a Day Intensive?
Weekly sessions give the work steady company over time. A Day Intensive gives it one long, protected day at the ranch, which some women prefer to opening everything up and closing it again every week. Neither is better. The right one is the one your life can actually hold, and Angela will tell you honestly which she recommends on the free call.
What is the difference between a grief coach and a grief therapist?
A grief therapist provides clinical mental-health treatment, while a grief coach offers structured, forward-focused support and tools for living with loss. Angela is a licensed trauma therapist who also works as a cash-pay grief and trauma coach, so she can meet you in whichever way fits your needs.
Do you offer online grief coaching for women?
Yes. Grief and trauma coaching is available online to women anywhere, and in-person equine work is held at Shakti Ranch in Malibu. Everything begins with a free 15-minute conversation.
Is there a coach who specializes in the mother wound and grief together?
Yes. Angela works with grief, mother loss, and the mother wound together, drawing on attachment-focused EMDR, somatic and equine-assisted work, and the Mother Hunger® framework created by Kelly McDaniel.
How much does grief coaching with Angela cost, and how do I start?
Sessions are $350, with packages of three ($1,050), six ($2,100), and ten ($3,500). Equine sessions are $450 and the Day Intensive is $2,500. You start with a free 15-minute conversation, no pressure and no intake forms.
