Grief, Trauma & Your Mama, Episode 1

Why this show, and why now

Welcome to Grief, Trauma & Your Mama. In this first episode I share why I started this podcast, who it is for, and what you can expect each month: honest conversations about grief, loss, trauma, and the mama relationship that shaped it all.

I tell you a little of my own story too. I’m a licensed trauma and grief therapist, a certified Mother Hunger® Facilitator, and a woman who has lived the losses I now help others carry. This show is the room I wish had existed when I was in the rawest seasons of my own grief.

We talk about why grief so rarely follows the timeline people expect, why so many high-functioning women carry their losses quietly, and why the relationship with our mothers sits underneath so much of how we love, cope, and hurt.

There is nothing to fix here, and nowhere you need to hurry to. Just honest conversations, held gently, once a month. I’m so glad you found your way here.

Mentioned in this episode:

Three things to carry with you:

1

Grief does not follow a schedule. It resurfaces at anniversaries, in grocery stores, in the middle of good news. That is not a setback. That is how grief moves.

2

High-functioning is not the same as healed. Many of us learned to set our grief aside because life did not stop. The show is a place to pick it back up, gently.

3

You do not have to do this alone. Whether it is this podcast, the community, or a therapist in your corner, healing happens in connection.
