Your trust matters here. This Privacy Policy explains, in plain language, what information this website collects, why, and the choices you have. It governs your access to and use of angelaschellenberg.com, including the content, features, and services offered through it, and it applies to information collected on the website and in email or other electronic messages between you and the website. By using the website, you agree to this policy. If anything is unclear, please reach out at angela@angelaschellenberg.com.

1. Who is responsible for your data

This website is operated by Angela Schellenberg ("I", "me", "my"), based in Santa Monica, California, United States. For any privacy question, or to exercise your rights, contact angela@angelaschellenberg.com. For purposes of the GDPR and UK GDPR, I am the data controller for this website.

2. A note about sensitive topics

My work touches grief, attachment, and loss. Please know that this website operates in a coaching and educational capacity. It is not therapy, and it is not the place to share clinical or medical detail. I treat my audience with extra care, and I do not knowingly collect health or other sensitive information through this website. Please do not submit medical or clinical details through forms, email, or the website assistant.

3. Children

This website is intended for adults and is not directed to children. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16, and in the United States I do not knowingly collect information from children under 13, consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. If you are under 13, please do not use this website or provide any information about yourself. If I learn that I have collected information from a child without the required parental consent, I will delete it. If you believe a child may have given me information, contact angela@angelaschellenberg.com.

4. Information I collect

Information you give me

Information collected automatically

As you navigate the website, automatic data collection technologies may gather information about your device and browsing, including your IP address, approximate location, browser and operating system, the link or campaign that brought you here, pages viewed, and general engagement. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies once you consent, and it is used mainly in aggregate to improve the website. Where you have given me personal information, this automatically collected information may be associated with it.

5. Cookies and tracking

Cookies are small files stored on your device. I sort them into three groups, and you control the optional ones:

TypePurposeYour control
EssentialMake the site work, remember your cookie choice, and run the website assistant.Always on
AnalyticsHelp me understand which pages and topics are useful so I can create better resources. Powered by Google Analytics 4 and my own first-party analytics.Off until you opt in
MarketingLet me share my work with people likely to find it helpful, and measure those efforts. Powered by the Meta (Facebook) Pixel.Off until you opt in

Optional cookies do not run until you choose "Accept all" or turn them on in preferences. You can change your mind any time using the Cookie Preferences link in the footer, or read the full Cookie Policy. Some third parties may use cookies, web beacons, or pixels to collect information about your activity over time and across websites for interest-based advertising. I do not control those third-party technologies. I honor Global Privacy Control signals from your browser as a request to keep analytics and marketing turned off.

6. The website assistant (AI chat)

This site offers an automated assistant to help you find resources and answers. When you use it, the messages you type are sent to Anthropic, PBC, which provides the underlying Claude model, so it can generate a reply. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, your conversations are not used to train their models. The assistant is scoped to general help and information. It is not therapy, it does not give medical advice, and you should not share clinical or sensitive personal details with it. If you mention being in crisis, it will point you to emergency resources rather than continue a normal conversation.

7. How I use your information

8. Legal bases (EU and UK visitors)

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, I rely on: your consent for optional cookies and marketing emails; legitimate interests for keeping the site secure and understanding how it is used in a privacy-respecting way; and performance of a contract when you book a session. You can withdraw consent at any time. I only ask for the information reasonably needed, and I will not make unnecessary processing a condition of working together.

9. Email, newsletters, and your choices

If you correspond with me by email, I may keep your messages, your email address, and my responses, with the same care I give other information. I am committed to keeping your email address confidential. I do not sell, rent, or lease my subscriber lists.

If you are outside the EU and UK and you download a free resource, register for a webinar, event, or training, or purchase a product, I may add you to my free email newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every email. If you are in the EU or UK, I will add you to the newsletter only if you affirmatively opt in.

In keeping with anti-spam laws such as the US CAN-SPAM Act, every marketing email clearly says who it is from and includes a simple way to unsubscribe. If you ever have trouble, email angela@angelaschellenberg.com and I will remove you.

10. How I share your information

As a general rule, I do not sell, rent, lease, or otherwise transfer your personal information. I share data only in these limited ways:

Some providers are based in the United States. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

11. How long I keep your data

I keep contact and subscriber data while you remain subscribed or a client, and for a reasonable period afterward to meet legal and business needs, until you ask me to delete it, until I stop using a given provider, or until the value of keeping it no longer justifies doing so. Analytics data is retained according to each provider's settings. You can ask me to delete your data at any time.

12. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your data, to object to or restrict certain processing, to withdraw consent, and to opt out of targeted advertising or any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. To exercise any right, email angela@angelaschellenberg.com. I will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

Washington residents: the My Health My Data Act gives you specific rights over consumer health data. I aim not to collect such data through this website, and I will honor requests related to it.

EU and UK residents: you also have the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

13. Security

I use commercially reasonable methods to protect your information, including standard encryption (SSL/TLS) for checkout and sensitive transactions through Stripe, and I work only with reputable providers. Please note that email is not a fully secure medium, so I ask that you do not send private, sensitive, or medical information by email. You may do so at your own risk. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so I cannot promise absolute security.

14. Changes to this policy

I may update this policy as the website evolves. The date at the top shows the latest version. If I make material changes to how I treat personal information, I will make that clear on this page and, where appropriate, by email. Please check back from time to time.
