The Koi Room

Room Description

A one-of-a-kind room on the lower level. A twin bed and a designer sofa, two lit koi-pond windows that look right into the water, a drop-down projector and screen, a mini fridge, and soft mood lighting. It is windowless by design, climate-controlled and calm, and freshly deep-cleaned before every circle, koi window and all. The powder room and main floor bath are shared with Palm, an easy part of the house rhythm in a retreat built around warmth and community.

About the bathroom: The Koi Room shares the same bathroom setup as the Palm Room: a nearby powder room plus the main floor bath. It is a polished, comfortable setup within the shared retreat house, where private rooms and shared spaces work together to create ease, friendship, and a sense of being at home.

A deposit reserves your bed the moment your booking goes through. You can pay in full, or choose the payment plan: a deposit today, then three monthly payments.

Because each circle is small and held with care, reservations are final. Deposits are non-refundable, and the retreat is non-refundable in full, for any reason.

Travel insurance is warmly encouraged, so you are covered if life asks you to change your plans.

Our Malibu circle gathers at a private estate above the coast. An Italian villa on 51 secluded acres, with the Pacific on one side and the Santa Monica Mountains on the other. Grief asks for a place that can hold it, somewhere beautiful and quiet and entirely your own, and this is that place.

The story of this place

For a long time this was ranchland, a wild stretch of the Malibu hills once known as Rancho Del Sol Pacifico. In 1997 a family took it on and poured decades of care into it, planting award-winning Cabernet vineyards and raising more than a hundred Andalusian horses in its stables, until the whole hillside was a working estate humming with life.

In November 2018, the Malibu Canyon fires swept through and took much of it. The winery and many of the horses were among the losses. What stands here now is what came after: new stewards who spent years, and more than a million dollars, coaxing the gardens back and rebuilding the villa into the place you see today.

There is something quietly fitting about grieving here, in a place that was lost and lovingly remade. It is where our very first retreat was held, and it is where this circle gathers again.
